Marant Étoile: the difference from Isabel Marant
Anyone looking for Isabel Marant will quickly come across a second name: Marant Étoile. Both come from the same Parisian house, but they are two distinct lines. Here, we explain what Étoile is, how it differs from the main line, and which pieces you can find with us in Dortmund this autumn.
What is Marant Étoile?
Isabel Marant founded her label in Paris in 1995, having already launched her own knitwear brand, Twen, in 1989. In 1998, she opened her first boutique in a former artist's studio on the Rue de Charonne. In 2000, Isabel Marant Étoile was added—a more relaxed line that the house itself describes as artistic yet casual. Today, you will usually encounter it under the name Marant Étoile.
Isabel Marant or Marant Étoile: the difference
The main line, Isabel Marant, is the house's runway collection, featuring more elaborate cuts and materials. Étoile translates the same signature into pieces for everyday wear: relaxed silhouettes, boho details such as eyelet embroidery, ruffles and floral prints, natural materials like linen and cotton, and a more accessible price point. If you like the Parisian look with a certain nonchalance, you will find the pieces you actually wear often at Étoile.
Coats, jackets and vests
The Brea coat is made from a wool blend in muted shades of grey, with dropped shoulders and a tie belt. The Ginesa in black/ecru is a wide, sleeveless vest with a check pattern, fringe and a cross-over closure, which works equally well over knitwear and blouses. For the transitional season, there is the Nevala jacket in dark bronze, a workwear-style jacket made from a cotton-linen blend with a shirt collar and snap buttons.
Knitwear
The Kelaya sweater is a finely knitted essential with a crew neck, pleated shoulders and an embroidered IM logo. The Kalyn sweater in bubblegum, made from cotton and RWS-certified wool, has more pattern, featuring openwork details and fine cables. The Lona cardigan in old pink and light grey features contrast edges and an intarsia Marant logo, while the Romera sweater has a mottled knit pattern with bronze hues.
Trousers and denim
The Ruthie trousers in caramel are ankle-length corduroy pants made of cotton and linen with a straight leg and 5-pocket construction—a warm tone for autumn. The Oriane in light blue is a barrel-leg jean made from washed cotton denim. The Ceryne trousers in striped cotton fabric have a carrot-leg shape with darts and a drawstring, while the Neriah trousers in dark bronze feature an elastic waistband with double-ring straps. New arrivals include two wide-leg jeans: the Rodayna in faded black made from washed, fluid denim with a pleated leg, and the Lemony in white made from solid-colored cotton denim with a high waist and wide leg.
Skirts
Skirts are a strength of the line. The Volomia is a tiered maxi skirt made from organic cotton with a delicate floral pattern and an elastic waistband. The Fiala in printed chiffon has asymmetrical ruffles, while the Pylka in white is a pleated maxi skirt with cotton lace inserts. The black Lycia skirt with its fluid drape has a calmer feel, and the Faharia denim skirt adds denim to the selection. For autumn, the Bisane skirt in brown is a perfect fit: a straight midi skirt made of faux suede with a patina effect, a 5-pocket design and a front slit.
Blouses, tops and T-shirts
The Shana blouse is made of lightweight, openwork cotton with a tunic neckline and broderie anglaise. The Christa blouse in cotton voile features long balloon sleeves, while the Florine top has sheer long sleeves and a high neckline. The Christa is now also available in black, with long sleeves and buttoned cuffs. Perfect for wearing under a coat or cardigan are the linen T-shirts Kiliann with a graphic print and Kyanzae with a pink logo; more sculptural is the Sebani T-shirt made from organic cotton jersey with a boat neckline, asymmetrical hem and detachable shoulder pads.
Scarves and beanies
For cold days, Étoile offers warm accessories with an embroidered logo. The Firny scarf is made from a material blend featuring 80% alpaca and comes in snow grey, khaki and burgundy. The Peliz scarf in camel contains 63% baby alpaca and has a fluffy feel. Matching this are the Peeta beanie in camel with 62% baby alpaca and the Mayers beanie made from cotton and wool in light grey and anthracite.
Dalby boots by Isabel Marant

From the main line, we carry the Dalby boots. They are crafted from draped calf suede, with a pointed toe, a soft shaft, braided cuff trim with tassels and a conical stacked heel. They are available in chocolate and cognac, in sizes 38 to 41.
What size should you choose for Marant Étoile?
